たとえば野球で言えば、イチローほど傑出した才能なら、何の文句も
ないのですが、なまじ上手いのが一番悩ましいのです。

甲子園も出た。六大学でもプレーした。
プロになれるかなれないか、ギリギリの立場にいる。

もし、実力がそれほどでもなければ、プロにならずに
普通の人生を生きて行く事が出来るのに、
なまじ、実力があるゆえに、厳しい世界に飛び込みたくなる。

それで、あきらめ切れずに、失意の人生を送る事になる
かもしれない。

悲劇ですね。

以前、美容ジャーナリストの齋藤薫も似たようなコラムを書いてたのを思い出した。ミスコンやオーディションの審査員をやってると、確かにかわいらしいんだけど、テレビに出たり、モデルをやったりするほどの美人じゃないコがごまんと出てくる。なんで彼女たちは、おそらく行けるはずもないメジャーへの道に焦がれて、人生を棒に振るんだろう。フツーに就職して「会社で一番かわいいコ」としてチヤホヤされて、会社で一番イケてる男と結婚した方がはるかに素晴らしい人生が待っているのに、と。
